Quality Assurance Engineer

Frotcom International SA is a Portuguese company active in the development of Fleet Management systems (Telematics). Our software, Frotcom, is currently sold in 40+ countries around the world, through a network of Frotcom Certified Partners.

You will be working in a hybrid system and our headquarters are in Carnaxide, Portugal, where we have a team of 50 amazing people, working in areas such as Software Development, Account Management, Logistics, Marketing and Administration, among others.

The Job
You’ll be part of a well-established and polished development team with great inter personal dynamics and team spirit.
In our development team, quality isn’t a one-person job — it’s a shared responsibility. But we’re looking for someone who can help us raise the bar.
We want a Quality Assurance Engineer with an engineering mindset, someone who thinks about product, is involved from day one, and goes way beyond just “clicking through features”.

So, what will you be doing as a Quality Assurance Engineer?

Be present throughout the entire development cycle, from idea to delivery.
Work side-by-side with developers, product owners, and designers.
Contribute to technical and functional decisions with a focus on quality.
Help us test smarter, earlier, and more effectively.

To perform this job successfully you must be able to execute the following tasks:

• Ensure that implemented features meet defined quality requirements;
• Actively participate in all phases of the development lifecycle;
• Work closely with developers, product owners, and designers to embed quality from the early stages of solution design;
• Contribute to technical design discussions with a focus on quality and testability;
• Continuously evaluate and improve the team’s quality strategy;
• Be a quality advocate within the team, acting with a critical, proactive, and constructive mindset;
• Help define clear, measurable, and testable acceptance criteria;
• Apply knowledge in areas such as regression testing, test planning, test case creation, functional testing, and smoke testing;
• Proactivity and adaptability in optimizing daily workflows through technology and AI.

Wondering what skills are needed? Here they are:

• Experience with tools like Postman and Swagger;
• Solid understanding of REST APIs;
• Experience using Jira and Confluence;
• Previous experience in SaaS environments;
• Familiarity with Scrum and Kanban methodologies;
• Ability to design effective test cases;
• Strong user-centric mindset and commitment to product quality, with systems thinking and technical awareness;
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills;
• Initiative and proactivity: doesn’t wait to be told what to test, but asks questions, proposes solutions, and challenges when needed;
• Ability to positively influence the team’s quality culture;
• Comfortable with ambiguity and actively contributes to clarifying requirements and acceptance criteria;
• Proactive and adaptable in optimizing workflows by leveraging technology and AI;
• Able to take an informal leadership role in quality, being recognized as a go-to person for QA within the team.

Other valued skills

• Experience in test automation (ideally using Robot Framework and Python);
• Experience with the Selenium framework;
• Basic knowledge of SQL;
• Some technical knowledge — but most importantly, a strong desire to learn;
• You don’t need years of experience — just the drive to grow with us and the belief that quality starts way before the test phase.
