King’s College School, Cascais, a distinguished member of the Inspired Education Group, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Teacher of Portuguese to join our Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) department. Our school offers the Cambridge International curriculum, including IGCSEs, and is set to introduce the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in 2026. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deliver engaging and challenging Portuguese lessons, ensuring high academic outcomes.
Develop and implement a comprehensive Portuguese curriculum aligned with Cambridge International and forthcoming IB standards, fostering linguistic proficiency and cultural awareness.
Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support individual learning needs and preparing students for IGCSE and IB (or equivalent) examinations.
Contribute to the development of teaching resources, assessments, and schemes of work within the MFL department.
Encourage student engagement through extracurricular activities such as language clubs, competitions, and cultural events.
Work closely with colleagues across departments to promote interdisciplinary learning and support whole-school initiatives.
Maintain high teaching standards, staying updated with best practices in language education and implementing innovative teaching methodologies.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
A degree in Portuguese Education or a related field, with a strong academic track record and a recognized teaching qualification.
Experience teaching Portuguese at IGCSE and IB (or equivalent, such as A Levels) with a history of securing strong academic outcomes.
A passion for language learning and cultural awareness, with an engaging and innovative teaching style.
Strong assessment expertise, with experience in developing and implementing effective strategies to monitor and enhance student learning.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
A collaborative approach to working within the MFL department and the wider school community.
A commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
