Upgrade is a Human Resources Outsourcing and Consulting company specialized in Information Technologies and Telecommunication industries. We are currently almost 400 consultants, working on different projects with our multinational and national technological partners. We present solutions such as resource Outsourcing for medium to long term projects, Time & Materials, and Business Process Outsourcing.
Regarding our partnership with a prestigious Telecom player, we are currently looking for:
SOFTWARE ENGINEER - WEB (m/f)
LISBON AREA
Core Responsibilities:
- Build amazing applications in collaboration with Graphical Designers;
- Create mockup designs and hi-res prototypes of the application for use in development, design walk-throughs and usability testing;
- Participate in usability studies or focus groups with end users to assess needs and validate design choices;
- Participate in user observation/modeling, scenario development, story-boarding,Use Case definition, user task analysis and other activities to capture user's needs and implement it in the system design;
- Create user-centered designs, Self Explaining and intuitive for the End User;
- Build visual hierarchy of the interface;
- Based on business requirements and market research assist in developing scenarios, use cases, and high-level requirements;
- Play well with others. Collaborate across the multi-disciplinary team to evaluate the feasibility of proposed solutions company and interact with our customers to define, design and ship new stuff;
- Design and author fast-rendering, reusable components using technologies like javascript, ext JS, jQuery, PHP, Python, NOSQL;
- Collaborate across the company and interact with our customers to define, design and ship new features;
- Write maintainable code with extensive test coverage following TDD/BDD principles, working in a professional software engineering environment (with source control, dev/stage/prod release cycle, continuous deployment);
- Improve the skills of everyone around you through discussion, debate, coaching and review;
- Promote work in an agile mode.
Job Profile:
- We expect contemporary SW development skills - meaning skills in XML, HTML, Javascript (and other modern OO and DSL languages), Java, Linux, Spring, JPA, relational databases (Oracle and mySQL), and the normal development tools like Eclipse, mercurial, git, maven etc.
- You should be a perfectionist and thoroughly follow and guide the implementation of your design;
You love what you do because you do it really well
- You enjoy and get inspired when you work with other talented developers
- You still code, and still love it. But you also love growing throughput by mentoring a team of more junior engineers.
- Opinions and „technical taste” about languages, frameworks and tools based on hands on experience, not other people's blog posts.
- You do not take anything for granted and enjoy challenging the establishment
- You are obsessed about being hands-on and up to date with the latest technologies
- A minimum of 5 years of coding experience, what matters is that you have experience working on both the server side (Python, Ruby, Java) and the client side (jQuery, HTML, CSS, etc.).
- Your core skill is not cutting and pasting code - or merely using libraries.
- You love to make an impact and thrive in small, collaborative, energetic teams.
- You communicate well out loud, on paper and in code. Code is a creative expression for you.
- We are a small team so we expect a great deal of flexibility and the capability to work on many levels – design, develop, create test automation cases, work with databases, cloud environment, maven, Linux etc.
- Good English is a required as well as good team working skills, motivation, flexibility, and desire to learn new things
Additional Requirements:
- You’ve made a substantial contribution to a widely used open source project;
- You’ve built and scaled a web application and are pedantic about performance;
- You read up on and experiment with new technologies because it’s in your nature, not because it’s a job requirement. You don’t just learn how things work, you learn why;
- Scrum Master certificate.
