Resumo: We would like to host 2 volunteers (a girl and a boy) to our office! We are a dynamic and enthusiastic young workgroup. We are waiting for same youngsters. Our country – Debrecen – is very interesting. There are a lot of programs, leisure opportunities and as Debrecen is one of the university centers there are a lot of youngsters from foreign countries.
Project environment:
Our office located in Debrecen. Debrecen with its almost 205 thousand inhabitants is the second largest city in the country, and the city 220 kilometres far from Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
Debrecen is one of the cultural and social centres of Hungary for almost half a century, and has been dedicated to establish and maintain a remarkable and outstanding cultural credo.
As Debrecen is the city of festivals and concerts, thousands and thousands of people visit the city for the Flower Carnival, the International Festival of Military Bands, the Debrecen Jazz Festival, the Poetry Festival, Summer and Autumn Festivals, or the Debrecen Turkey Festival and the Béla Bartók International Choir Festival. The numberless concerts, music groups, and choirs – let it be classical or light music – are obvious evidences of the flourishing musical life of the city, which offer day after day their various programmes for the citizens and the tourists as well.
Debrecen is extremely proud of its centuries’s old traditions and heritage in education. Debrecen is not only a regional and national, but an international centre of education, especially on higher levels. Several thousands of foreign students choose Debrecen as their educational destination year after year. There are a number of bilingual schools.
Debrecen is the centre of trade and business for centuries and this flourishing and dynamic cooperation of the city and economy is established on a number of different strata: education and knowledge economy, local administration, and investors and business partners combine forces to generate a local economy that is defined and established on a regional level and on a high standard of professionalism. Debrecen is the economic and trade centre of north-eastern Hungary.
During the season the volunteer(s) help in our camps: We have two youth camps, which are operate in every year from May to September. One of our camps is Égervölgye, in the northern part of Hungary, not far from the famous huge dripstone cave, Aggtelek. (part of world heritage). Under a forest, in the coast of brook, chalets surrounded by meadows, restaurant and other community places. The other camp is on one of the most beautiful shore of Lake Balaton, - which is the biggest lake of Central Europe - in the outstanding area of Káptalanfüred, in the neighborhood of Lake “Köcsi”.
We offer that project environment for the candidates, we would like them to enjoy their service in Hungary, and we provide a various facilities and work opportunities for our volunteer(s) in different places, thus they can travel within the country and get to know more about Hungary and the Hungarian culture. Through this, they can learn a lot about intercultural differences and habits as well.
Perfil: Our volunteers need to be an open-minded, creative young people, who are handle their voluntary work quite serious and would like to be active and work in the field of youth work. We are looking for helpful, flexible, outgoing, social person, who has good communication skills, empathy and tolerance. We require English skills at the basic level and ability to speak and communicate well and computer user skills needed also.
Tarefas: The main activity is to organize a monumental photo exhibition about the EVS volunteers’ life in this region, Hungary. It is a wonderer exhibition, the goal is we get to many high schools and other public areas (cafés) to promote the Youth in Action Program, the EVS and the EVS volunteers’ life who live in our region.
You should organize it, build relationship with the other EVS volunteers and take a lot of photos about them!
Besides this photo exhibition you can organize other youth programs (leisure activities, christmas/new year/carnival party, exchanges and so on). So you can learn a lot about the youth work, how to use creatively the camera and work up the photos, organize events, make leaflets, communicate in English, then in Hungarian.
You can work in our offices, our camps and with the other volunteers.
Our association organises youth exchanges, sends youth to international youth projects. Volunteers can help to organise international informational campaigns. They can use their personal knowledge and ideas to make our projects and events more colourful. They can initiate youth programmes and involve youths. They can help youths to learn foreign languages or to practise English language. In the international club they can help to promote European citizenship for Hungarian youths and help to prepare youngsters to participate in international programmes. They are youth workers and mainly they work in projects so they can improve their project managing skills.
Condições: At the selection of the volunteers we pay attention to their motivation (letter) and their resume, as well in order to make a good decision about their application.
We would like the sending organization to give a short characterization and reference of the volunteer to decide whether we would work together. The application can be complement with telephone/Skype interview to get to know more about the candidate and make a complete picture of their character and communication skills by directly the volunteer.
We strive to have a firm contact with the sending organizations, which has a similar profile like our organization. The stable background of the sending organization and concerning with the volunteer is very important for us. We would be glad if we cooperate with a sending organization, which has an experience of the EVS sending activity.
Formação: At our office the volunteer can learn the substantive work, problem solving, thinking of and working on projects and the same time they learn the cooperation and how they can work in team efficiently. They can get acquainted with youth supporting services, they can involve to the subtasks of European level projects. Their communication and social skills can develop well during the projects. They can learn responsibility; they can take part in operating with youth support services. They can test themselves in the process of office work and administration, organising events and leisure programmes. We emphasise the independent work in the labour and the leading ability in a private life as well.
